2. Introduction for special issue

Advanced optical manufacturing technology is a technology using computer and precise machine to manufacture optical components and systems in high-efficiency, low-cost and high-accuracy level. It is closely related to the development of information science, life science, material science and micro-nanotechnology. And it can be widely used in national defense security, aerospace, biomedical, automobile and other fields. At present, advanced optical manufacturing technology has the characteristics of large science, large engineering and large manufacturing, and the development trend of "one big, one small" extreme manufacturing. However, advanced optical manufacturing technology also faces the problem of sub-surface damage, mid to high spatial frequency errors. Developing new manufacturing devices, exploring new manufacturing technology, overcoming existing difficulties and exploring the application market of advanced optical manufacturing technology are of great significance to promote the continuous innovation and development of advanced optical manufacturing technology.
Therefore, Opto-Electronic Engineering plans to launch research papers on “advanced optical manufacturing technologies” in early 2020. The purpose of this special issue is reviewing the current development of advanced optical manufacturing technology, discussing the development trend and application prospects of advanced optical manufacturing technology, showing innovative advanced optical manufacturing technology, and bringing new ideas to the development of this field.
