Special Issue for Additive Manufacturing (Call for papers)
1. Title of the special issue
Additive Manufacturing
2. Introduction
Additive manufacturing (AM), also known as 3D printing, is a new manufacturing technology developed in the late 1980s. Today, AM is the international cutting-edge field of the advanced manufacturing technology, and is also an important part of the intelligent manufacturing system. In 2013, the consulting firm McKinsey released the report "outlook 2025", in which AM technology was listed as one of the 12 disruptive technologies that determined the future economy. AM is a process of making 3D objects by accumulated materials layer-by-layer based on 3D digital model and automatic technology. Through the integration of materials, electronic information, process, equipment and application, the discrete-accumulation manufacturing principle of AM technology overcomes the traditional manufacturing difficult from structural complexity. Through controllable manufacturing from material microscopic morphology to macrostructures, AM technology will make a integration of design, material and manufacturing. Nowadays, AM technology has been widely used in aerospace, biomedical, automotive, casting and many other fields and industries.
In recent years, with the rapid development of AM technology at home and abroad, many new principles, materials, processes, equipment and applications are emerging constantly. It is significant to promote and popularize the AM technology.
Therefore, the journal Opto-Electronic Engineering plans to launch the special issue "Additive Manufacturing" in early 2021. The special issue is aimed at presenting the important research progress and achievements of AM technology at home and abroad in recent years, exploring the research trend and application prospect, and putting forward innovative AM technology. Now, this special issue calls for high-level research and review articles in related fields.
